Cleaning Foggy Windows

Ever wondered the best way to clear fogged windows in a cold rainy weather?

Firstly, let’s understand the reason for the windows to fog up in the first place.

The fast changes in temperature that occurs as soon as you get in the car and start breathing hotter air than that which is on the outside of the car. The moisture in the hotter air condenses when it comes into contact with the colder surface of the windows.

Knowing this, the best way to de-fog your car on a cold wet day is to start your car, switch on your demister & switch your heater onto your windscreen with the air conditioning on, making sure all your doors and windows are closed.

It's vital that you use your air conditioning as it produces a very dry heat, which deals with this problem quickly. As soon as your windows are clear - and it typically only takes a matter of minutes - you may turn off your air conditioning and heater and open a window slightly to allow air to circulate.

While it may be tempting to just wipe the windows with a cloth, this technique will leave awful water marks on the glass, requiring further cleaning.
